RAISE YOUR CUP...

I got Aunty a cup of coffee today.

I was walking in the snow with a delicious cup of hot coffee, and, I heard her say from heaven…

“I would love a cup of coffee.” So, I raised my cup to her, and smiled, and said "This is for you Aunty. I love you forever and ever and ever. AMEN!"

As I looked up to the sky I sensed her delight. I felt like each little snowflake falling
on my face
was a kiss from my precious Aunty...

Completely over joyed and loved....
with the snow, the aroma, the memories,
and the steam from my coffee connecting us...

Happy Valentine's Day Aunty!
Happy Valentine's Day World!

SO MUCH TO GIVE....

I guess I never really thought about it much till now, but, growing up with Aunty and Uncle D (seen with me here) we had a White Picket Fence around us!  That seems very fitting to me now. We lived together just the three of us in a four room flat; their bedroom, my bedroom, one kitchen and a small living room. It was sheer perfection. Love ruled every day!

Here I am with them (circa mid-sixties)and their grandson, Joseph. As you can see I held on tightly to my Angel Aunty even then.
Now, don't get me wrong. My Uncle D was as kind and benevolent as his wife. They were givers extraordinaire. And we adored each other beyond words. There is so much I truly want to tell you about him. I must say I still idolize that man. Like Aunty, he treated every person that he ever met with the utmost respect. And he was a sentimental sweetheart!

Dancing with Uncle D at his 75th Surprise Party....

The reason I write about them now, decades after these pictures were taken, almost ten years since Uncle D passed, and over two since Aunty's passing.....is because it's as if I am caught in time. That love I felt in these pictures I feel exactly the same now but with maybe a billion times more love and more affection, and even more appreciation for how miraculous these two human beings, now spirits, really are. I spent a lifetime with them so no one knows the immeasurable acts of pure kindness these two extolled better then me. And, they never ever expected anything in return.

I feel so blessed with this rush of love that comes over me whenever I reflect on their love and the love and life the three of us shared.

And, together right now, you reading this, me writing, and Aunty and Uncle D's profound legacy of love being shared, we make the world fill up with more love! How wonderful...and, fitting for a blog called Ageless! Keep on loving....Do something great with your love....pass it on to a child, a good friend, or someone truly in need....maybe even yourself. You need love too! And as we all know by now, you can't give it until you've got it.... Here please take some of ours..... xoxoxoxoxoxo  We can never ever ever run out!

Aunty and Uncle D you are the best part of who I am! And from above and beyond you still make the world, this blog, and the cosmos brighter....

MAKE YOUR FOUNDING FATHERS PROUD

I love to celebrate the Fourth of July. Simply because we live in America we celebrate our freedom on Independence Day.

The day will be most memorable in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival…It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade…bonfires and illuminations (fireworks) from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore. –John Adams, July 3, 1776

Here are some pictures of my family enjoying the July 4th Holiday...hope you are enjoying yours....
Ageless Aunty with her lovely nieces....

And nephew

We had the grill, the music, the fireworks. We had red, white, and blue rings and things, and hats and shirts. We were festive. We raised our glasses. We toasted each other and our love for this country! Some wore Boston Strong shirts. I even got to hold Avery Grace!
This little American's first fourth....

We had so much fun.... I am on my way back for more. Most of the guests stayed over night because no one wanted to leave! Now that's a party!
I think our founding fathers approve!
God Bless America....and YOU TOO!

GET UP OFFA THAT THING and PASS THE SALT LAMP?!

If Aunty can be this happy at 87, you have no excuse at 27, 47, or 77, to be anything but blissful!

Aunty glows with the flow….and takes me along. Let her take you along too…

Here she is dancing around the living room to I Got the Feelin’ in a fevered frenzy.

I get giddy when I am able to use words like healthy, rapture, and joy, when writing about Aunty. Here is our Ageless Aunty enjoying a Sunday afternoon like only she can. Keep in mind it’s a few days after her 87th birthday.

We were hanging out and I decided to exercise at the house instead of going to the gym.

As soon as the first note from James Brown’s All Time Greatest Hits CD came on, Aunty "got up offa" her thing, jumped on her "good foot" and joined me. She just let it go.
When I see my great Aunty this happy I have to ask: is that magic Himalayan salt lamp really working (you can see it in the pictures, and I hear these magic lamps have been scientifically proven to increase the negative ion count in the air around you, helping you feel tranquil and relaxed), or is it all the love in the world that I give her, that the world gives her…and she’s just giving back? It’s a beautiful reciprocation. We all win.

Okay, all you Ageless readers…group hug round the salt lamp!

P.S.
I hope someone who knows the late great James Brown is reading this. The Godfather would be delighted to know how much people of all ages still appreciate his music. Some even flip their lid!

BLAME IT ON THE BLOG...

I mentioned in a few posts that I love snow, and
it has not stopped snowing since! I think this blog might really be magical after all.

Therefore, I take full responsibility.

Once Aunty and I shovel out...we'll be back with more on "how to live well, have fun, and remain Ageless in any economy."
In the mean time, look on the bright side, shoveling is fabulous exercise. And, a perfect excuse to relax with a Hot Toddy later...

TOMMY LEE JONES and THE GUSHING GUEST

Since many of you have been asking who the man was I met in the elevator last week, in New York, I will tell you. Right before the elevator operator shut the door, I heard a voice say, “Just a minute.” A man and a woman stepped in. The dude was tall and handsome, with a presence that overpowered the small space. When I realized who he was, (remember, I am a movie fanatic) my heart started beating so fast, I thought I might faint.

“Are you Tommy Lee Jones?”
“Why yes I am,” he replied.

He cordially introduced me to his wife. As lovely and as personable as she was, I was so excited about talking to Tommy Lee Jones, I forgot her name. But, I could not forget all the roles he has played. My personal favorite was Doolittle Flynn in Coal Miner’s Daughter. I saw that movie at least seven times. He has starred in countless movies from Men in Black, and Lonesome Dove to The Eyes of Laura Mars and No Country for Old Men. He is currently filming Men in Black 3
Tommy as "Doo"

You might be thinking I should have asked for a picture with him. I probably should have, considering part of this blog is about me chasing (the) stars. But, in that moment, I was on his level. We were at the same hotel, on the same floor, talking about how much we love New York; I just couldn’t burst that bubble. However, we were on a top floor, and the longer ride down gave me more time to gush~

HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND...

with friends and family earlier this summer

Summer is not over yet... get out and live it up. Or, sit quietly on the porch with a mint lemonadelavender ice-tea, or a cold beer. That's what I would do if I had a veranda.

This blog is still on vacation. Keep in mind, it's my blog that is taking a break, not me, as some of you thought. I am hard at work on my book proposal.

I will brew up a nice summer drink to help me along though... and like my potential agent, I will take the day off on Monday.

Any suggestions for an end of summer drink?

Cheers~

I will be back soon with more of what this blog is all about: how to live well, have fun, and remain ageless, in any economy. Here it's  an Endless Summer~

THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH...

You're looking at it!

I opened my refrigerator last night and snapped this picture…

Since you are what you eat…. Aunty and I are nuts (well, not just any nuts, organic almonds and walnuts). We’re granny-smith’s and baby lettuce. We’re sweet potatoes and a bunch of grapes. We’re full of flaxseeds, ripe blueberries, ruby rich grapefruits and passionately pomegranate. We’re supersonic broccoli and plenty of kale. What are you? It matters what’s in there. Open yours and find out.

They call Refrigerators Miracles of Modern Living… So, Plug it in, Fill it up, and … Make it work for you!
You’ll be amazed… We don't look 130 plus do we?
