POSING WITH PARKER POSEY...

I met Parker Posey, now anything is possible!!!
This is a very exciting post for me. How often do you get to meet one of your favorite movie stars? I had just posted about Parker’s new movie The Love Guide (out now ON Demand) and, as the good karma of this blog continues…. before you know it…. there I am posing with Parker Posey!
Here at Ageless with Aunty, we do our very best to stay positive and upbeat no matter what is actually happening in our life, and in return amazing and wonderful things continue to occur...
Many of my loyal readers know that I am having a hard time living life without Aunty (the Aunty in Ageless with Aunty)! At times I think my life went from color to black and white when she passed (only several months ago). Living with Aunty was like having the Dali Lama, Mother Teresa, and Betty White merge into one perfect roommate. So, as hard as it is carrying on without Aunty, I still manage, no matter how sad I might be at times, to keep going, to stay positive, and keep a good healthy outlook on the future. Because I chose to remain in a good place and not let any darkness stay for too long, nice things like meeting a favorite movie star, and making caring new friends, just effortlessly materialize.
When I wrote my last post, I knew I would be attending a party celebrating the release of The Love Guide. But, I had no idea Parker would be there. And, I certainly had no idea that she would be so gracious to me. Just chatting with her lifted my spirits. If you missed the party, you can still see Parker Posey in the Love Guide and some of her classics like Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, The Daytrippers, and the role that made her famous… Party Girl!
I know you will fall in love with Parker too. And by following Aunty’s beloved blog… you will feel more possibilities come into your own wonderful life! Try it and see. If you are not a follower already, just hit that button over on the right that says follow RIGHT ABOVE ALL THE PICTURES OF THE OTHER FOLLOWERS and type in your email address where it says join this site! It’s that simple. Aunty thanks you from way up high. She's counting on YOU and promises to keep your email address strictly confidential.

The 13 GRANDMOTHERS...

      The Salt of the Earth

Dear Readers of Ageless…

Grandmothers are wise…they know the answers,  they speak the truth… if we are smart we will listen. I had the distinct privilege of not only hearing the 13 Indigenous Grandmother’s speak, http://www.grandmotherscouncil.org/ but of driving some of them to their speaking engagement! They are prayerful, mindful, and wise. They know we must change how we humans are abusing this planet. And they desperately want a clean future for their grandchildren. Among them all they carry the state of the world on their shoulders. They know the future of this planet will not be a good one if we continue to abuse  Mother Earth. I  saw the pain in their eyes and the tears that followed.

On a lighter note, while I had them in my car I played some of my favorite music, Van Morrison, for them. Bells Were Ringing Down at The Kingdom Hall blared out on the way to their gig. I rolled the windows down and let the breeze blow their braids. I showed them pictures of Aunty. They all agreed she looked like a movie star!  During our little road trip  I engaged them in a conversation about tea.  Grandma Mona said she enjoys ginger tea with lemon and honey. Another said she likes to make a  sage brew. Grandmother Beatrice makes her own spearmint tea.  I realized that I had prayer, and my love for music and song in common with these wonderful elders, not to mention a love for family. Family is what they care most about. Some of them even travel with their children/grandchildren. I really felt a connection and a bond.  One of them had a name that I would like to think I would have had if I had been born on a Native American reservationHoly Dance. She would later tell the packed hall that she gets up every morning and in her bare feet goes out to greet the morning sun with her arms raised above her head and prays in gratitude! “I pray all the time,” she said.

honored to stand with the Ageless Holy Dance

Take a moment and go to their site, maybe even send a donation. You have my word…they are worth it. The future of the earth is worth it.  The grandmothers say each one of us makes a difference. Grandmother’s speak the truth. They represent the past so eloquently. I pray that their message is heard and carried safely into the future.

HAPPY EASTER...

We are always the same age inside...

Aunty loves her Easter chicks. They sing and dance We Got the Tweet, to the rhythm of the Go Go's We Got the Beat.

The Easter Bunny, that would be our friend Lori, brought us another glorious basket. We have church to go to, songs to sing, family to visit, and candy to eat. What could be better? We are grateful for every glorious second of this blessed holiday season, and for our readers.

So many wonderful things are on the horizon, my head is spinning. Agents are seriously considering my work. The secret product (idea) that I want to develop is miraculous. And, the blog is growing! Aunty has been joyous and happy. Things keep getting better and better, as we live more and more in the moment, and in deep gratitude each day.

Please come back to Ageless next week. And hit FOLLOW. We do not share email addresses. By hitting the FOLLOW button, (right there to your right) you are simply giving us a thumbs up. When you do become an official follower, Ageless Aunty automatically sends all good karma your way. Just ask any of our followers already. Each one of them has been blessed. So, tell your friends too!

Happy Easter and Happy Trails.

GET UP OFFA THAT THING and PASS THE SALT LAMP?!

If Aunty can be this happy at 87, you have no excuse at 27, 47, or 77, to be anything but blissful!

Aunty glows with the flow….and takes me along. Let her take you along too…

Here she is dancing around the living room to I Got the Feelin’ in a fevered frenzy.

I get giddy when I am able to use words like healthy, rapture, and joy, when writing about Aunty. Here is our Ageless Aunty enjoying a Sunday afternoon like only she can. Keep in mind it’s a few days after her 87th birthday.

We were hanging out and I decided to exercise at the house instead of going to the gym.

As soon as the first note from James Brown’s All Time Greatest Hits CD came on, Aunty "got up offa" her thing, jumped on her "good foot" and joined me. She just let it go.
When I see my great Aunty this happy I have to ask: is that magic Himalayan salt lamp really working (you can see it in the pictures, and I hear these magic lamps have been scientifically proven to increase the negative ion count in the air around you, helping you feel tranquil and relaxed), or is it all the love in the world that I give her, that the world gives her…and she’s just giving back? It’s a beautiful reciprocation. We all win.

Okay, all you Ageless readers…group hug round the salt lamp!

P.S.
I hope someone who knows the late great James Brown is reading this. The Godfather would be delighted to know how much people of all ages still appreciate his music. Some even flip their lid!

SHE'S BACK!

THE ORIGNAL AGELESS AUNTY

Many of you have been asking about Aunty. I am pleased to say, she is doing fantastic. She has a big birthday coming up on March 7th….She’ll be 87 years young.

Here she is getting ready to go out for pizza. We have found ways to dine out, and still keep our girlish figures. Our pie was honey, whole wheat, with oodles of fresh vegetables, and we sprinkled our own fresh cheese over it.

In the restaurant, she put on her trendy sunglasses and sipped a Virgin Mary. She knows she is the real star of this blog. It is named, Ageless, after her. This woman is simply incredible beyond all measure. I have never met a better natured person in my life!

She has been through so much, suffered many losses, yet, she wakes up with a smile each and every day, ready to laugh, and spread joy. And, as it turns out, keeps me better company than anyone could ever imagine. I had already loved her more than I thought possible, before she came to live with me, over five years ago. Now, my love, respect, and admiration for her is more than I could ever express in a blog post…it’s off the charts. The only way to accurately describe her is, pure, selfless love. In my book I call her, Mother Teresa in High-Heels.

When I tell someone, “I take care of my aunty,” she corrects me and says…. “We take care of each other!” And we’ve got the pictures to prove it.

She told me today, I am a good person. I knew it was her heart speaking. Hearing that from such an extraordinary, Christ-like woman just healed me on many levels. It was like the sun warming me from all sides.

Close to ninety, with dementia, my Great Aunty is as happy as she has ever been. And, even though I have not been published yet, or made a million dollars from my secret product, knowing I have made this much of a difference in a person’s life, makes mine worthwhile.

BEFORE YOU HEAR IT FROM OPRAH...

Look what I found at the Blue Ginger...

One of my favorite parts of Oprah’s magazine is The List. This is where her editors rave about their new finds. They blurb about everything from exotic perfumes and candles, to water bottles and soybean crayons.

Well, I have discovered a couple of great products on my own that are so fabulous I just could not wait to tell my readers.

A lot of us are familiar with the slogan for Dunkin Dounuts… It’s Worth the Trip. What about a coffee that will make you trip?! That’s right, I found it. My favorite celebrity chef, the world renowned, Ming Tsai, has teamed up with Rao’s Coffee and created Ming Tsai’s Maitake Coffee…for health. This is as fine a coffee as you can get, with the added ingredients of Maitake Mushrooms! The Maitke is incredibly healthy. They lower your blood pressure, and because they are rich in Beta-Glucan your immune system is stimulated. I could go on and on…

The result is a truly outstanding and healthy brew! I am drinking some now. The high levels of alkalinity of the mushrooms bring out the inherent sweetness of the coffee. I feel like I could write forever. This longevity essence is the perfect complement to a blog called Ageless with Aunty! And, since Aunty is the world’s biggest coffee lover, maybe we can talk Ming into changing the name of this invigorating concoction to Ageless Aunty’s 101. Because, Aunty will live to 101 if she keeps drinking. And, she would drink ten cups a day if I wasn’t looking.
Aunty and her coffee

Ming also sells his extraordinary tea….Blue Ginger Lychee Tea. Along with Hediard, this is the finest tea I have ever had. You don’t need sugar, and it’s perfectly blended for the most enjoyable cup, hot or iced! Between the subtle spicy heat of the ginger playing off the fragrant lychee…sipping has never been so sublime. Take it from me. My friends don’t call me Miss Pekoe for nothing. Or see for yourself. Go to http://www.ming.com/

A side note: Ming Tsai has recently cooked for Oprah. I hear she was delighted with his talent in the kitchen. Something tells me she’ll be writing about him soon…

~As Ming says…Peace & Good Eating~

AGELESS ANGIE...

A rock and roll mama

There is a new ageless wonder on the blog…

The decked out doll in the zebra print is Ageless Angie. Her son, Johnny A, is a guitar virtuoso. This makes Angie a real rock and roll mother! And she is quite stunning. At 77 years young, she dances, runs a pub, goes to gigs, and is still making new friends. Now that's Ageless.

She tells me “If I keep reading your blog, I’ll never get old!” My sentiments exactly.

Diddyboppin

To learn more about Angie’s super talented son, including where he is playing next, go to http://www.johnnya.com/

They say, Johnny A. has one of the most eloquent voices in modern music - and he doesn't sing a note. Instead, he channels joy, love, humor, sadness... every aspect of the human experience, through his guitar.

where there's a will there's Renee, with Johnny A

THE COWBOY CLUB, HULA SKIRTS, AND BUILDING 19...

Behind every Ageless Aunty is an amazing Grace…

As I have mentioned in previous posts taking care of Aunty is no easy task…sure, Aunty is happy, radiant, fun, and “a real hoot,” but, she does get forgetful and doesn’t like to be alone. That means as her sole caregiver, I am always with her. And, when I can’t be, I turn to Aunty’s long time companion, Gracie. This is where I bow and genuflect.

Gracie adores Aunty almost as much as I do! She would do, and has done, anything for aunty. And, if it were not for Gracie, I would not have any time to go for a walk alone, sit in a meditation class, or go out with my friends. Gracie is part of the family and truly a life saver.

Gracie and Aunty have their Tuesday and Saturday routines, including die-hard card games, and stopping at Building 19. Aware, and amazed at all the attention Aunty draws, Gracie loves to say… “Aunty held court today.” Usually that means at McDonald's. Gracie and Aunty are best friends. I have come to see that continuity of care for an elderly person is essential. Gracie’s love and concern is one of the reasons Aunty is thriving in her 8o’s. Aunty asks for Gracie if a few days go by and we don’t see her.

The three of us have countless jokes. These days we are calling ourselves the CBC (that’s Cowboy Club) because I keep saying I can’t get the picture of the three of us sitting on horses out of my head. And, since we are no shabby dreamers, we are also hopeful that once my publishing career takes off, we will be able to go to Hawaii.

To make our tropical dream more real….we recently gave Gracie this framed picture (above) of the three of us in hula skirts. Since Grace just finished reading my manuscript, and loved it so much, she’s convinced, “Hawaii is a real possibility.” Something tells me Aunty’s buddy is secretly buying hula skirts at Building 19 (the only store east of Honolulu that might carry them).

In Gracie’s words… “I am the CEO of the CBC, and I love my Aunty as much as can be! I am not buying one grass skirt. I am buying three.”

And when she is not saying “Aloha” she is calling me her “author.” She often says with love, “I wish you were my daughter!”

Ageless Tip of the Week: if you don’t have a Gracie of your own, find one, pray for one, or manifest one quick. Or borrow ours from Building 19…

THIS BLOG WORKS!

The One and Only, Ageless Aunty~

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well look at this one and tell me what it says to you. I see it as Ageless with Aunty is working. Everything I suggest on this blog, from eating apples, to drinking green tea, and dancing with enthusiasm just because… well, it’s apparently working for Aunty. She follows, and lives this blog and I am delighted with the way she looks and feels. Could she actually be getting younger? I am also seeing the imperative role a good attitude plays in the aging game. The fact that she is always happy yields better results than any face lift would.

Someone said to me the other day… “I hope I look half as good as Aunty does when I am 86.” With this picture in mind, I can say…Follow our blog and you will~

As promised, vacation stories coming soon, and for anyone who might be wondering what ever happened with my TV audition for Oprah’s new reality show… I was not selected as a finalist. I am okay with that. I honestly didn’t think I would be (my audition was not properly prepared or polished) but, I did enjoy the process, and I have that lovely little interview with Aunty to cherish. You can still see that footage on my Facebook Page, just scroll down on the left and hit the video link.

Coming Soon, a YouTube video of Ageless Aunty in action. Betty White may have some serious competition! In Aunty’s own words… “Watch Out.”

YOUNGER NEXT YEAR...

I ALWAYS dreamed someone would give me the secrets to staying young and healthy. Well... I got my wish. I may not ever look like this again (this is me at 22) but, I know if I follow what is presented here, a year from today I will not look any older than I do right now. As a matter of fact, I might even look younger! ... That's pretty cool if you ask me.

Thanks to Chris Crowley, co-author, with Dr. Henry S. Lodge, of the Younger Next Year books, here is  solid advice for keeping youthfully vigorous.

1) Exercise six days a week for the rest of your life.

2) Do serious aerobic exercise four days a week for the rest of your life.

3) Do serious strength training, with weights, two days a week for the rest of your life.

4) Spend less than you make.

5) Quit eating junk.

6) Care.

7) Connect and commit.

You could put numbers 6 and 7 into practice right now by simply hitting the follow button on the right. You would be helping Aunty and I by saying that you like our blog. There are no strings attached, and no one,  will get your email. Honest. It is simply a nice thing to do because we work hard to entertain you, and hopefully help to keep you inspired and feeling good.

I would like to add a number eight... Take a break.... With that I am leaving for a few days to a much needed, long over due (by ten years) vacation. I will be back soon with some great stories to blog about. I miss my readers already..... please leave me some comments below about your vacation highlights, or one particular vacation that stands out... we can compare notes when  I return. And, let me know what you think of the health tips listed above...

Love,
Renee & Ageless Aunty~

CHINESE COPY CAT...

A Real China Doll~

Aunty likes to copy everything I do. If I wear a dress, she does too. If I buy a new lipstick so does she. And, if I blog about turning Japanese, then she must blog about turning Chinese.

Everyone enjoyed my post about how much I love, and am influenced by the Japanese culture. Aunty did not want to be upstaged by her niece, so she pulled out her shirt that was made in China, grabbed her chopsticks and her Chinese cup which she borrowed from a joint called Lucky Moon. She reminded me how much she enjoys oolong tea. She boasts…“That’s the kind they serve in Chinese restaurants you know, and the type that little old Chinese men drink.” In copious amounts, I might add.

She just ran with this Asian thing. She even posed for a photographer with her china tea cup. Is it me, or does it look like Aunty is saying… sure my niece Renee is turning Japanese, but I am a China Doll? I say she is a Chinese Copy Cat!

Any way you look at it, we are having rice for dinner tonight. And, one thing Aunty and I agree on is that both cultures have an appreciation of tradition, family, honor and beauty, just like she and I do.

THE ARTIST CURRENTLY KNOWN AS ROBERT HUNT...

Ageless Artist and Art Lovers

Everything about art is ageless. Mona Lisa still looks the same after five hundred and seven years. Whistler’s Mother hasn’t aged a bit since 1871, 139 years ago! Although this might have something to do with Mother literally hanging out in Paris at the Musee d’Orsay. How can one ever get old surrounded by masterpieces by Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Gauguin and Van Gogh.

Creative people also have a certain vibe that keeps them young. I recall my years at the Boston Conservatory of Music where I studied dance. The instructors were not young…but, they were ageless.

Hanging out with creative types is exciting. My friend, the talented and highly creative Robert Hunt, is an ace photographer. At his last show I was truly in awe over his work… and I wasn’t the only one. Everyone was raving. Here is just a glimpse of his some of his work. I can honestly say his entire collection is pretty incredible.

To get a better view you can go to his website http://www.roberthuntphotography.com/

You can also email him directly for listings of future shows…

Contact email - Rhuntphotography@cs.com
Bob also works with another impressive photographer, Sharon Devereux.

Ageless Tip of The Week: hang out with artists, or visit museums more frequently…summer is a great time to preserve our youth~

EVERYONE LOVES AUNTY...

         she is irresistible

I HAVE LEARNED TO MAKE THE MOST OF A TOUGH SITUATION, TOUGH IN THE SENSE THAT AUNTY (WHO LIVES WITH ME) CAN NOT BE ALONE. SHE HAS DEMENTIA AND WHENEVER I HAVE TRIED TO GO OUT IN THE PAST, SHE FORGETS I SAID I WILL BE RIGHT BACK. SHE HAS STARTED CRYING, CHANGING THE ENTIRE HOUSE AROUND, PANICKING, AND JUST BEEN AFRAID. IT DID NOT TAKE ME LONG TO REALIZE I HAVE TO TAKE HER WITH ME WHERE EVER I GO. THANK GOD SHE HAS THE PERSONALITY OF GEORGE BURNS, BETTYE WHITE, AND MAE WEST, WITH THE HEART OF MOTHER TERESA. NEEDLESS TO SAY, EVERYONE LOVES HER, AND SHE IS WELCOMED MOST PLACES.

HOWEVER, SOMETIMES I MIGHT LIKE TO DO THINGS THAT AUNTY CAN’T, LIKE WALK OR RUN FIVE MILES. SO, I CAME UP WITH AN INGENIOUS PLAN. I BRING AUNTY TO THE LOCAL COFFEE SHOP. I HAVE THEM BREW HER UP SOME GREEN TEA, I GIVE HER THE LATEST ENQUIRER MAGAZINE, AND THEN I RUN AROUND THE BUILDING UNTIL IT EQUALS FIVE MILES. I FEEL LIKE ASTRO ON THE JETSON'S TREADMILL…EVERY FIVE MINUTES I SEE AUNTY, I WAVE, AND THEN GO AROUND AGAIN. THIS ALSO WORKS AT THE HEALTH CLUB. SHE WATCHES WHEEL OF FORTUNE WHILE I USE THE STAIRMASTER AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY, I SAY EVERYONE BECAUSE ALL THE PASSING MEMBERS SEEM TO ENJOY SEEING A SMILING AGELESS AUNTY ON THEIR WAY INTO THE CLUB. AND AT THE ASHRAM WHERE WE DO YOGA, THE GURU’S CONSIDER AUNTY A WISE AND RADIANT SOUL, AND THEY HAVE ENCOURAGED HER TO PARTICIPATE FROM A CHAIR. AND YES, I MEAN PARTICIPATE, BECAUSE WHEN I TURNED AROUND ONCE, AUNTY WAS TRYING TO DO A DOWNWARD DOG FROM HER SEAT. DON’T ASK…

WHEN IT CAME TO MEETING UP WITH SOME OLD FRIENDS FROM HIGH SCHOOL THE OTHER NIGHT (IN A MINI-REUNION ARRANGED THROUGH FACEBOOK) I THOUGHT IT PROBABLY WASN’T THE BEST PLACE TO BRING AUNTY. BUT, THE PERSON STAYING WITH HER WAS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A FEW HOURS. I WAS HAVING SO MUCH FUN I ASKED IF THEY WOULD DROP AUNTY OFF AT THE PARTY. THEY DID, AND AUNTY WAS AN INSTANT HIT. SHE STARTED DANCING AND WENT INTO FULL MERRYMAKING MODE WITH ALL THE GIRLS, MOVING HER HIPS, LAUGHING, AND ASKING “WHERE’S MY CIGARETTE?”

SURE, I COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING THE ONLY ONE TO HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF AUNTY, IT’S NOT ALWAYS EASY. SOMETIMES I WISH I COULD WAKE UP AND JUST GO FOR A WALK OR RUN, OR NOT HAVE TO HIDE MY TOOTHBRUSH BECAUSE SHE WILL USE IT, BUT I CAN’T. YET, WHEN WE SIT AND HAVE OUR TEA TOGETHER AND SHE SAYS, “YOU GIVE ME A HAPPY LIFE,” SOME HOW HAVING TO PUT MY TOOTHBRUSH IN THE KITCHEN, NEXT TO THE TOASTER, DOESN’T SEEM LIKE SUCH A BIG DEAL.

EARTH TO OPRAH...

Not so Fast...

Since I have always been told I am one in a million, I didn't think it would be so hard to be, let's say, one in a billion. I say that because apparently when Oprah decides to produce a reality TV show, about having your own show.... well, half the world wants a chance to try out. Needless to say, since my last post a few days ago, I have been tyring to find someone to shoot my video audtion, edit the video, and upload the clip. I am still not there yet...

Well, I shot the footage, and now I am trying to upload it . This is not easy when half the population is doing the same thing at the same time. There is no air-conditioning in my office where my computer is, and I am sweating. But, since my show is about always looking up, the good news is I probably have lost those ten pounds that TV will add! So, I am already on the right track. I'll stay seated at the computer trying to get past all the technical difficulties and the rules and regulations of the contest. The questionaire is so long that Aunty will be 87 by time I complete answering the questions. They want to know everything.

This is not easy! This is Oprah Winfrey we are talking about. So, be patient. As soon as we have the video uploaded on her site, I will tell everyone I know, and hopefully you will tell everyone you know, and maybe I will have a chance to host my own show... with Ageless Aunty as my Co-Host.

I have lots of great ideas already. And, Aunty really wants to go to Hollywood~
More so than ever.....Stay Tuned. Blue Skies ahead...

Rock and Roll Will Save Your Life...

That's What His New Book Says

Last week, when I told my mother I was going to see the J. Geils Band again, she asked me when I was going to outgrow rock and roll. I held up my high-school year book, with the picture of me with the words J. Geils written across my butt in rhinestones, and replied “Never!” My love for rock roll is as strong as ever. I just can’t get enough. My passion for that music carries over to my writing. I wrote a movie script that is essentially a valentine to Classic Rock and its fans (it is not produced yet, but I predict it will be). I still spend a lot of money on concert tickets, and I listen to that music every chance I get.

When I found out author, Steve Almond was on tour promoting his new book Rock and Roll Will Save Your Life, I put on my Jimi Hendrix tee-shirt, my black leather boots and worn out leather jacket. I held up a Bic lighter and made my way to Steve and his new book.

I have to give Steve a lot of credit. It’s hard to sell books these days. He spoke/performed, to a sold out audience. He even threw in a great live band by the name of Boris Mccutcheon & the salt licks, and a slide show. It was a clever idea and a great way to get people out, and interested.

The crowd roared. Everyone except Aunty was in a groove. Maybe because she is 86 years old, or, because she was about to meet Dean Martin the next night, Aunty was a bit preoccupied. But, I was front and center and, like the rest of the audience, I hung on Steve’s every word, grunt, and groan.

Here is a picture Aunty tried to take of me with Steve. Note: Neither Steve nor I are in the picture. Once again, Aunty had other things on her mind.

If you love rock, and like a funny read…listen to the music and check out Steve’s new book. Like it did for him, it might save your life. And, like the music does for me, it will help keep you Ageless… and that has always been my promise to you!

For more on this wild and crazy author go to http://www.stevenalmond.com/ and check out his book Candyfreak too! Last time I looked they were selling that one in museum gift shops.

BLOG HOG!

She is Hogging My Blog...

We all know that sometimes life is not fair…
And that goes for blogs too.

Take this blog for example, here I am a hard working writer (already working endless hours, and seeking representation on my first book, and giving up most of my life to write the second). Due to my animated personality and Chutzpah laden stories (which is what I write about), on the advice of agents, friends, and co-workers, I started this blog (more hard work and effort, not complaining, just stating facts). These days, writers must do more than write. They want us to have an audience before we get published! A blog is one way to do that. And, speaking of an audience, (as far as I have been told) everyone who reads this blog enjoys it. None of this is the unfair part by the way. The problem is…

Once Aunty found out what a computer was and discovered the Internet, seeing those pictures of her all over (what we call a blog) and the reception she gets in the real world since the blog began, she is always asking me to post a new picture and story about her. There is no other way to say it. She has become a Blog Hog! And you heard that term used here first. (Could I have invented it)?

But, since my Motto is Where There’s a Will There’s Renee…my next post will feature me posing with a hot and famous Politician. I may call this blog Ageless with Aunty, but, she is only half of it. The rest of the fun is mine!

Stay tuned as Aunty and I vie for your attention, and the attention of Rock Stars, Politicians, Celebrated Authors, Agents, Actors, and Anyone famous…

HOW TO STAY YOUNG...

Aunty turns 86...
Today our precious and lovable Aunty turns 86 years young! She was born March 7th 1924! Here she is celebrating with one of her girlfriends half her age. Aunty started the day singing and dancing to some of her favorite songs like Let Me Call You Sweetheart, It Had to Be You, and Oh, You Beautiful Doll. Like Aunty, those songs are Ageless. I cried tears of pure joy seeing Aunty make it to another year, and in such high spirits. She shows no signs of slowing down.

Last week she was banging the drums (See Post The Next Gig). Today she is headed to the Casino. Next weeks her calendar includes Chanting and more Dancing.

When I ask her how she stays so young, she says, “I love everyone, and I’m happy.”

The kind and generous Ageless Guru (Aunty) has agreed to share some of the products, vitamins, and foods that help keep her full of vim and vigor! Believe me, they work! Part of her health and beauty regime will be posted soon. In the mean time…

Happy Birthday to all the March 7 babies…especially those cutting their 86th Birthday Cake today! ~~~~~~~

BEAUTY SECRETS REVEALED...

You Asked

Okay Okay… Ageless Aunty and I have been asked so many times, what are some products we can recommend to our friends and followers. We like this question because truly, we have tried many, and can recommend some great beauty finds. Aunty is not too far from ninety years young, and her skin is glowing! She inspired this Ageless blog. As far back as I can remember Aunty has been using Oil of Olay. She stared with the pink bottle, and now she is using their Regenerist. Glance over the pictures of Aunty on this blog, and you tell me if you think her skin care regime is working.

Some of my faves are… Lancôme’s Crème Mousse Confort to cleanse my face. When I wash my delicate facial skin I treat it like I would the finest lingerie… with care. Lancôme’s Crème Mousse Confort (made with nurturing rose hip oil and soothing Rose de France) is like no cleanser ever. My skin feels like velvet every time I use it. It really is amazing.

My number one beauty dilemma is my hair. It just has a mind of its own, and by now it’s got some serious memory issues (it forgets how to look good naturally). And, lets’ face it, most products don’t deliver. One day while visiting the far away island of Nantucket (everything is better there)… I discovered the Moroccan Oil hair product line. They tame frizz and add shine. They are the only hair products I have continually purchased.

And for the hair on my legs … I have come across a product that makes my skin feel like a baby’s, even after shaving. The product I am referring to is Skintimate Skin Therapy Moisturizing Shave Cream. The pearly pink lather (with aloe and vitamin E) cushions your skin from the razor and apparently keeps out irritation period. I have to hide it from Aunty because she thinks its for her face. The results create a Wow factor.

Would anyone like to share some of your favorite beauty finds? Or let us know how you found any of our suggestions. Please comment here. And, I will be sure to continue highlighting some of our secret beauty treasures throughout this blog… wait till you hear about the miraculous masks we use. Ageless Aunty and I have ourselves convinced we will never get old if we keep using them! They are that good.

AGELESS TIP OF THE WEEK: Forget the Sunday drive or newspaper….. Wash your face, Shave your legs, and Smooth out your hair....with these products you will create your own Day Spa! You will have a better Monday too…~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~:)

IT'S FASHION WEEK...

fun in feathers...

My friends took one look at me and told me I should be in New York for Fashion Week (which is going on now)…

All I was doing was following my own blog. Remember in the post Bring Back the Dressing Gown, well, that’s when I suggested wearing something from your past.

I also mentioned I would continue to pay homage to Iris Apfel, (see I’ll Show You Ageless). I was just following up on that too. Above is a picture from her recent museum exhibition Rare Bird of Fashion.

As for New York this week, considering one of the First Lady’s favorite designers, Jason Wu, was showing off an Ostrich piece… well, maybe my friends were right. Here I am in Peacock!

Either way, all the fun and feathers are helping to keep me Ageless. And, I am enjoying getting familiar with my wardrobe again.

If this keeps up I may try and get into Fashion Week next year. And Aunty could be my ticket. God only knows what I may find in her closet. She might have something so outrageous, some conversation piece (a la Iris) which might just get us in. Besides, she’d be a most memorable and appreciative guest. Did you see her in her fur? Check out Aunty At the Ashram. She’s always been a stickler for style. She takes great pride in how she dresses. She will not leave the house unless her clothes are perfectly “pressed” and she is in full make up. Even if it is just to greet the mailman!!

Adorn yourself in something….It’s Friday and It is Fashion Week Darling…
