Long before Modern Family, the Kardsashians, and Motley Crew, were the Gold Girls. Now, the next generation joins in the unparalleled merrymaking.
We didn’t sing Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother’s House We Go. We ran around the beach, and over to Grandmother’s funky daughter’s house. It's just another Holiday on High with the Gold Clan.
It’s always loud and colorful. At one point we had a pinball game going in the basement, a round of chess in the dining room, a fashion show in the den, and Ageless Aunty tearing up and tripping over the Persians in every room (rugs that is). That was after I grabbed an almond out of her mouth because she was trying to eat a whole one including the shell!
Noodles, the 19 year-old blind pup walked into walls during all the festivities. My brother-in-law, the host, continuously poured pricey international wines by the crate! And when I asked my six-year old nephew Brayden what he wanted most for Christmas this year, he replied, “Ten packages of Beef Jerky would be nice!”
I was grateful for every sip, shrimp, sigh, boing, holler, and strut. My animated family is a lot of fun. They would win a Gold Medal if celebrating (the holidays) was an Olympic sport.
After some Tony Bennett and Truffle Cheese, the upbeat soundtrack to our Thanksgiving revelry included Beausoleil’s, Papa St. Nick, the Moonglow’s Hey Santa Claus, Santa Claus, Santa Claus. One of my sisters declared, “Thank God you brought your tambourine.”
