AGELESS VALENTINE….

My Valentine Delivered….

I was so happy to receive a dozen roses from my Valentine! Roses are timeless, ageless, and so romantic….And, he didn’t stop there…he brought me a cake (yummy vegan chocolate) declaring his love.

I just found out he’s bringing more gifts today. Then, after dinner, he’s taking Aunty and me to see Gnomeo & Juliet. That’s the new animated 3D movie featuring garden gnomes as star crossed lovers.

Since I happen to love those little creatures, I can’t wait. Aunty and I have this thing for 3D! We behave like little kids once we put those glasses on. I remember when I took her to see U2 in 3D; she kept trying to touch Bono. When we recently saw Big Wave Tahiti in 3D, being so close to the images, I felt like I was surfing. I was ooh-ing and ah-ing, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say splashing, through the entire movie. I think Aunty actually thought we were surfing...

Here are a few unique gift suggestions for the Valentine on your list:

For the first time in the US, you can now get Pistachio Liqueur from Dumante. According to Marty’s Fine Wines http://www.martysfinewine.com/ this delectable liqueur is made from the finest Sicilian pistachios. Marty says, “It’s delicately sweet and subtle,” and, comes in an attractive bottle perfect for gift-giving.

Lisn Incense by Shoyeido, from Kyoto Japan has some of the most alluring fragrances I have ever whiffed. The Lisn line (with scents like Swing Your Heat, and Catch Her Beat) lives up to the word, sublime. I don’t think anyone can resist the scent Hit my Soul…its jasmine based, and reminds me of exactly what heaven would smell like! This item is hard to find, but worth the effort. The last phone/fax number I had for them is 075-721-6006.

If the best day of your life could ooze itself into a jar, Clementine Body Scrub by Laura Mercier, would be the result. My guess is most women would relish any of Laura’s lavish products. I know I would. If this scent is out of stock, the rest of the irresistible line is also “inspired by the aura and aroma of a French Patisserie.” http://www.lauramercier.com/

I would also like to suggest making your own cards for Valentine’s Day, or special occasion. You might not think you have time, but, it’s easier than you think. Whenever you see a picture that catches your fancy in a magazine, or a catalog, or one that reminds you of someone, cut it out and put it in a plastic bag or file. Next time you go shopping pick up some blank paper cards. They come in bunches at craft stores and such. Then, all you need is a glue stick and a colored pen or two. Over the years I have given many memorable cards this way. People seem to appreciate the effort, the creativity, and a tailor-made greeting especially for them. Granted, even though making your own cards is pretty simple, sometimes I don’t even have time to answer the phone or open the mail. But, when I do give a homemade card people notice. Give it a try… If Aunty can do it, so can you…

LOOK WHAT AUNTY MADE FOR ME!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you. Remember, everyday is Valentine’s Day here at Ageless with Aunty~
This heartfelt blog is our gift to you.

SHE'S BACK!

THE ORIGNAL AGELESS AUNTY

Many of you have been asking about Aunty. I am pleased to say, she is doing fantastic. She has a big birthday coming up on March 7th….She’ll be 87 years young.

Here she is getting ready to go out for pizza. We have found ways to dine out, and still keep our girlish figures. Our pie was honey, whole wheat, with oodles of fresh vegetables, and we sprinkled our own fresh cheese over it.

In the restaurant, she put on her trendy sunglasses and sipped a Virgin Mary. She knows she is the real star of this blog. It is named, Ageless, after her. This woman is simply incredible beyond all measure. I have never met a better natured person in my life!

She has been through so much, suffered many losses, yet, she wakes up with a smile each and every day, ready to laugh, and spread joy. And, as it turns out, keeps me better company than anyone could ever imagine. I had already loved her more than I thought possible, before she came to live with me, over five years ago. Now, my love, respect, and admiration for her is more than I could ever express in a blog post…it’s off the charts. The only way to accurately describe her is, pure, selfless love. In my book I call her, Mother Teresa in High-Heels.

When I tell someone, “I take care of my aunty,” she corrects me and says…. “We take care of each other!” And we’ve got the pictures to prove it.

She told me today, I am a good person. I knew it was her heart speaking. Hearing that from such an extraordinary, Christ-like woman just healed me on many levels. It was like the sun warming me from all sides.

Close to ninety, with dementia, my Great Aunty is as happy as she has ever been. And, even though I have not been published yet, or made a million dollars from my secret product, knowing I have made this much of a difference in a person’s life, makes mine worthwhile.

THIS BLOG CAN HELP....

Bye-Bye Bow-Wow

Never mind one of those days, did you ever have one of those weeks?! In my last post, I mentioned having “technical difficulties”…but, the truth is, things have been challenging lately.

Two of my closest friends were hospitalized last week. I am on my way to see one of them right now. The other lives out of state, so Aunty and I sent a lovely bunch of flowers from her favorite florist.

Our apartment has been leaky… as in ceiling, walls, and windows, and it’s further driving me crazy because Aunty keeps asking, “What’s that sound?” She’s referring to the dripping of the water into the buckets. What is most upsetting here is, the lack of concern the management company has shown. It’s been nine days, and no one has shown up yet.

As I continue to deal with an unreasonable landlord threatening eviction, an unfair lawyer (who charges you for even thinking of asking him a question), entering my seventh year of care giving…and money rapidly dwindling, I thank God for the Blog! When I write, somehow I connect with an inner strength…the real, authentic Renee…the one who can, and will get through anything this crazy, and often unfair world has to dish out, emerges. As it turns out, I get strength from my blog to see me through. I am a follower just like you. When I read the recent post about Laughter Yoga, I laughed. I was able to diffuse some of the bad energy that has seeped into my life lately. As I mull over this blog, I am reminded that I have the power to turn things around.

But, there is still one more thing making me sad, and it’s something this blog might not be able to help me with….the loss of our beloved family pet, Noodles. My sister had a teacup terrier for almost twenty years! I loved that dog so much I often referred to him as my nephew. Last week, after a long illness that had him blind, lame, and walking into walls, Noodles was put to sleep. We all feel the loss. And, being an animal lover, I feel it a great deal. This is just one of those things the blog can’t really help me with. I have got to mourn the loss of the little guy and just deal with the sadness. During the writing of this post, my sister called to tell me he took his last breath on the cozy little blanket I gave him for Christmas a few years ago.

Sitting here, I realize that any comfort I am seeking with this particular situation, or any for that matter, is not only helped by what's on the blog, but who’s looking at it. That would be YOU!!! Knowing my readers are following Ageless, commenting, and telling others about it, gives me the motivation to keep on trucking….It makes me happy. My problems don’t seem so bad.

Together we make things better for each other. I enjoy writing for you, and hopefully, you enjoy reading what I write. And, whether reading or writing, the message is still the same: We are okay wherever we are. On the other side of these winter blues, illnesses, loss, and any bad energy, is a great big wonderful summer! Sooner or later, everyone will be in a better place, including Noodles! We have to be, we’re Ageless…

P.S.
Do check out the post on Laughter Yoga if you missed it. Then, scroll around to uplift yourself. This blog has proved to be a magic carpet ride over a bumpy road. It’s about to take off again…and there is plenty of room for you.

BLAME IT ON THE BLOG...

I mentioned in a few posts that I love snow, and
it has not stopped snowing since! I think this blog might really be magical after all.

Therefore, I take full responsibility.

Once Aunty and I shovel out...we'll be back with more on "how to live well, have fun, and remain Ageless in any economy."
In the mean time, look on the bright side, shoveling is fabulous exercise. And, a perfect excuse to relax with a Hot Toddy later...
