THIS BLOG CAN HELP....

Bye-Bye Bow-Wow

Never mind one of those days, did you ever have one of those weeks?! In my last post, I mentioned having “technical difficulties”…but, the truth is, things have been challenging lately.

Two of my closest friends were hospitalized last week. I am on my way to see one of them right now. The other lives out of state, so Aunty and I sent a lovely bunch of flowers from her favorite florist.

Our apartment has been leaky… as in ceiling, walls, and windows, and it’s further driving me crazy because Aunty keeps asking, “What’s that sound?” She’s referring to the dripping of the water into the buckets. What is most upsetting here is, the lack of concern the management company has shown. It’s been nine days, and no one has shown up yet.

As I continue to deal with an unreasonable landlord threatening eviction, an unfair lawyer (who charges you for even thinking of asking him a question), entering my seventh year of care giving…and money rapidly dwindling, I thank God for the Blog! When I write, somehow I connect with an inner strength…the real, authentic Renee…the one who can, and will get through anything this crazy, and often unfair world has to dish out, emerges. As it turns out, I get strength from my blog to see me through. I am a follower just like you. When I read the recent post about Laughter Yoga, I laughed. I was able to diffuse some of the bad energy that has seeped into my life lately. As I mull over this blog, I am reminded that I have the power to turn things around.

But, there is still one more thing making me sad, and it’s something this blog might not be able to help me with….the loss of our beloved family pet, Noodles. My sister had a teacup terrier for almost twenty years! I loved that dog so much I often referred to him as my nephew. Last week, after a long illness that had him blind, lame, and walking into walls, Noodles was put to sleep. We all feel the loss. And, being an animal lover, I feel it a great deal. This is just one of those things the blog can’t really help me with. I have got to mourn the loss of the little guy and just deal with the sadness. During the writing of this post, my sister called to tell me he took his last breath on the cozy little blanket I gave him for Christmas a few years ago.

Sitting here, I realize that any comfort I am seeking with this particular situation, or any for that matter, is not only helped by what's on the blog, but who’s looking at it. That would be YOU!!! Knowing my readers are following Ageless, commenting, and telling others about it, gives me the motivation to keep on trucking….It makes me happy. My problems don’t seem so bad.

Together we make things better for each other. I enjoy writing for you, and hopefully, you enjoy reading what I write. And, whether reading or writing, the message is still the same: We are okay wherever we are. On the other side of these winter blues, illnesses, loss, and any bad energy, is a great big wonderful summer! Sooner or later, everyone will be in a better place, including Noodles! We have to be, we’re Ageless…

P.S.
Do check out the post on Laughter Yoga if you missed it. Then, scroll around to uplift yourself. This blog has proved to be a magic carpet ride over a bumpy road. It’s about to take off again…and there is plenty of room for you.

YELLOW-BRICK UGGS

One pair is mine

Right before Christmas, a dear friend asked me what I wanted for a gift. Off the top of my head, all I could think of was a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble or Whole Foods. She didn’t like that idea, and said she wanted to buy me an actual present. She asked what I really wanted. Since she is pretty generous, I told her a pair of Ugg slippers was high on my wish list, and that I had wanted a pair for a long time.

Being so busy, the next day, when a box arrived in the mail, I did not make the connection to my friend. I had no idea who the package was from or what was inside. I let it sit in my hallway for a few days. When I did open it, there was a pair of those super fine Santa Ugg Boots that I had just blogged about. They were utterly fabulous.

When I called to thank my pal she told me, “I figured you really wanted those boots and not the slippers.” That was not necessarily true. But, once I stepped into those boots I just flipped for them. I love the fun style and all that fluffy fur. The boots turned out to be a perfect gift. They are so comfortable, I hardly take them off. They also made me realize the power of my blog! No one would have ever known I desired that particular fashion item unless they were looking at my blog. People are reading it. That’s the best gift of all!

Maybe if I click my heels together three times, I will end up smack dab in the middle of a lucrative book deal. Especially if I do the clicking in these boots, on this blog… where magic continues to flow…..

Has there been any magic in your life lately? Keep reading and there will be. Or get yourself a pair of Uggs. These things are so cozy you will find yourself slipping into a fantastical state of bliss. I think every pair of Uggs comes with their own little (imaginary)Yellow-Brick Road. To prove this might be true...these boots now come in sparkling sequin. http://www.uggaustrailia.com/

By the way, my sister wants you to know…she had the Dior-looking Uggs first.

THIS BLOG WORKS!

The One and Only, Ageless Aunty~

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well look at this one and tell me what it says to you. I see it as Ageless with Aunty is working. Everything I suggest on this blog, from eating apples, to drinking green tea, and dancing with enthusiasm just because… well, it’s apparently working for Aunty. She follows, and lives this blog and I am delighted with the way she looks and feels. Could she actually be getting younger? I am also seeing the imperative role a good attitude plays in the aging game. The fact that she is always happy yields better results than any face lift would.

Someone said to me the other day… “I hope I look half as good as Aunty does when I am 86.” With this picture in mind, I can say…Follow our blog and you will~

As promised, vacation stories coming soon, and for anyone who might be wondering what ever happened with my TV audition for Oprah’s new reality show… I was not selected as a finalist. I am okay with that. I honestly didn’t think I would be (my audition was not properly prepared or polished) but, I did enjoy the process, and I have that lovely little interview with Aunty to cherish. You can still see that footage on my Facebook Page, just scroll down on the left and hit the video link.

Coming Soon, a YouTube video of Ageless Aunty in action. Betty White may have some serious competition! In Aunty’s own words… “Watch Out.”

OPRAH MADE ME DO IT...

I need a drink...

I am amazed at what people do, myself included, when they hear those magic words....OPRAH WINFREY.  I finally had my video audition uploaded for Oprah's new reality show tryouts. It is now officially on her Own TV Network site…... and that would explain the caption under my picture here.

If you dare look at it, please keep in mind…my tape was shot with a regular camera (many of the other contestants have highly polished professional video entries)…

I had five minutes to film, and in a room that was five hundred degrees. The person I was supposed to interview never showed up. Aunty had to stand in, but for some reason, she was not her vivacious self. The location we had planned to use was suddenly filled with children (and that specific area at the end of my street had never ever been occupied like that before). We decided to shoot inside even though yellow-jackets were flying around. One wasp tries to make a cameo appearance. I learned a lot about filming. You must always expect the unexpected, and then literally roll with it!!

The lovely young woman shooting for us was pressed for time. We had no rehearsal. But, we gave it our best shot under all circumstances. And, the only thing I forgot, aside from a few lines (another big mistake, I shouldn’t have had a script) was … my LARGER-THAN-LIFE personality! After just seeing the video now, one close friend asked, "Where was Renee?" I didn’t even smile. But, like Aunty says, “You can do plenty of that when you win.” My neighbor says, I would have had a real chance if I had just let my true spirit shine.

However, there is a sliver lining……. I have a story for my readers.... and, a possible name for my show...Blue Skies…

The reason our director only had five minutes was… she was on her way about to jump out of a plane into the Blue Skies! Now that I have seen my audition played back… I feel like jumping too….off the face of the earth….
Ageless tip of the week… If you ever want to be considered for anything Oprah…don’t shoot your audition tape on a wobbly snapshot camera in a hot apartment with bees.~
