PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE SUPERMODELS READ AGELESS

Doing the Ageless with Aunty thing

This is my young niece Rosie in a fashion show. Right after this picture was taken I ran backstage to give her a big hug and compliment her on a fabulous job. Her friend's mom asked about my blog. Rosie knows the motto here is: how to live well, have fun, and remain ageless in any economy. She said, "Aunty, if I follow your blog will I look as young as you when I am your age?" I took that as a compliment and told her of course she will! But, the only way to find out for sure is check back in with Ageless with Aunty thirty years from today, and if Rosie looks something like she does here, you'll know it works! I can save you some suspense though...following this blog helps instill an ageless attitude and healthy lifestyle. I have proof at the end of this post! Because here at ageless we don't stay down for long. We let things go! We eat healthy foods, we pray, and we love every moment of life...We are thankful for who we are!
And, speaking of runways....I heard there are some other super models who read Ageless with Aunty. Here is one of my favorites, Kate Moss. I apologize for the cigarette. Certainly that is not a way to stay healthy or to have fun. But, when you look like Kate Moss it's probably fun just to wake up and look in the mirror. It's probably a trip buying clothes that are a size one, and have every door open for you, and opened too.

We can learn from this picture though... I would like to say don't be jealous of gorgeous, rich, supermodels or the likes of. Jealously is not healthy nor is it ageless. Ninety-nine percent of the women in the world don't look like Kate Moss, and many of them are happy. The only reason I even posted such a glossy is... I think it's absolutely a stunning shot. I may not look like Kate Moss, but, I am happy for her. She makes the world a prettier place. If she really is reading Ageless with Aunty, I would like to ask her to replace the cigarette with a cup of green tea next time. Or, maybe ask her if we can take a picture together. Wow...what would that be like? Renee Gold posing with Kate Moss. I promise to tell you all about it, including her exercise and diet regime. We might not look like her, but, it's fun trying (as you can see below).

This is my Kate Moss imitation circa early eighties.
Kate was five.

I think following, and living out what is talked about on this blog does help with staying healthy, happy, and holy. Here is a picture of the author of  Ageless with Aunty  taken almost thirty years after the one above...

LAUGH OFTEN...

                                                       living the blog...

Because I followed the advice from my last blog post about keeping an open mind, I found myself on the set of a local cable TV station promoting Laughter Yoga.
When they first asked me to be in the video I was sad thinking about Aunty. She would have been an ideal candidate for Laughter Yoga. And, had she been around I would have brought her with me. Yet, I was open enough to my own healing and to continue as best I could with living my life to the fullest. I know that a good way to honor Aunty is by being like her. And, Aunty was as happy and genuine as any human could be. She had mastered the art of wholehearted living and giving.

So, with the wings of Angel Aunty nudging me, I showed up on the set to help my friends promote this healthy practice. Before I knew it I was laughing and unleashing my inner child with abandon. Afterwards, as seen in the photo above, I felt lighter, and less stressed. There really is something to this Laughter Yoga. Laughter is uplifting no matter how down you think you might be. How can you be sad when the corners of your mouth are pointing to heaven?

Here I am (above)with Bill and Linda of Let's Laugh Today http://www.letslaughtoday.com/ and Helen Chin Lui of the Healing Place

A smile is free, easy, and ageless. And, in my case it's a way to honor Aunty.  The shirt I am wearing here says LAUGH OFTEN. It was a gift. I  am convinced it's a message from Aunty.  She wants me to smile. She wants you to smile too. Here's one of her favorite pictures for proof.

HOW TO STAY "REMARKABLE"

Ageless Aunty after her recent doctor's appointment

Her doctor called her "remarkable." He told me I should be "commended" for taking such good care of my 87 year old aunty. I felt a rush of pride and happiness to see Aunty so happy, and to hear a respected doctor say such kind words.

We must give Ageless with Aunty  some credit. "We practice everything we say and do on our blog." I told him. He then said the magic words... "Your blog works." He even took out a picture from one of our posts and told us he used us as an example of  quality elder care, devotion, and good attitude,  in his recent staff meeting. Aunty and I appreciated such an acknowledgement from this sought-after memory specialist.

Ageless Tips: In past visits he had recommended blueberries to possibly help with preserving the memory. We have been eating them almost daily. He emphasized the importance of exercise. Hopefully by now, everyone knows that. Then, he mentioned a little red wine is good too. So, on our way home I stopped in my local wine and spirit shop for a bottle of red. Much to my surprise and utter delight.... I was asked to show my ID! This has not happened in years. I thought the woman was joking, but she was serious. After she looked at it, she told me, "You  look much younger." She than asked "What's your secret?"  I told her it's my blog. "I have a blog called Ageless where Aunty and I live out our secrets to staying young and happy."  She took a look at the two of us beaming and immediately asked for my blog card.

I'll be darn....this blog works!!!! It works if you work it, so work it cause your worth it!
No matter how old or young you are, here, we are all Ageless with Aunty!

MANGIA...

The Original Pillsbury Dough Boy

Happy Thanksgiving
Take a day off the weight watching and just enjoy what you eat... If the food is made with love, the calories will melt away...
I always enjoy every bite of Aunty's Italian Cookies and my mother's pistachio cake. Miraculously, I can still zip into my jeans the next day. A nice long walk in between helps.

Dazzling shoes up next...

HAPPY SEASHELLS, SANDALS, AND SHORE-LINES...

Summer CakeJ

Happy Summer….
Surf’s up
Hang five, or is it ten?
Any way you look at it, this is the perfect time of year to be Ageless~

And now that summer is officially here, and my friend Helen Sunshine just told me it’s the happiest day of the year…this blog is on vacation. Well, not really. I am just considering entering the contest that Oprah’s network is running. They have something called Your Own Show. My understanding is, it is going to be a reality TV show about having your own show, and ultimately someone does. Since several people have called  encouraging me to try out, I am looking into putting a video together this week. The deadline is Friday, so there is a lot to do. I promise to keep you posted.

I realize I have a better chance of becoming president of the United States than having even a cup of tea with Oprah, but, let’s just say I am doing it for Aunty.

Check back later this week….this is only the first day of summer….there is much more to come.

By the way, at a family gathering recently, from a distance someone thought I was my teenage niece. Okay, maybe they don’t have the best vision, but, regardless, looks like this blog is working~
Keep up and you'll be kept up tooJ!

TRANSCEND YOUR NEXT THURSDAY...

Channeling my inner "Aunty"

“I can’t take her anywhere.” No, that is not what my friends say about me, ---- well, okay, maybe sometimes. But, that is what I say about Aunty. She goes just about everywhere I go, and she always creates a stir. It might be the way she smokes her fake cigarette, the high-heels she still manages to strap on, her trendy sunglasses, the sly way she says, “I’m going with the guys,” or a swear she might blurt out with a mischievous grin. But, most often it’s her simple childlike joy that turn moments of every day living into something sublime. Take for example last Thursday night. We went out to get a bite to eat, and according to our friend Lori, “Aunty created another magical night.”

The three of us were sitting in the back of the restaurant eating our salads when a jazz quartet walked in and started setting up right next to us. Naturally (as someone who is into live music) I jumped up in revelry when they started playing.

Sure, I was in a restaurant, but, it was a friendly neighborhood establishment, the kind of place where you usually have good food and fun.

As the band jammed so did Aunty. Everyone started clapping and cheering as she swayed in a groove from her seat. As the music continued to move her, she got up and danced. There were waiters, cooks, chefs, fellow dinners, who each wanted a glimpse, or a moment with Ageless Aunty.

Our quiet night of eating and chatting turned into a party. But, with Aunty, things always get good. She lives her life with pure bliss and it is contagious. By now I am used to hearing the sweet words…

“Aunty is the happiest person I have ever met.”

Ageless Tip of the Week, Get in touch with the Ageless Aunty in you, and take any night of the week up a notch. Who knows, a jazz band might show up and play your favorite song!

What did you do last Thursday night while Aunty hit the bull’s-eye of living in the moment? Please share your comments below. And if you don’t remember, well, take a cue from Aunty~ it’s time to kick up those heels. And, if you are past a certain age, you can’t use that as an excuse any longer. Look at Aunty go, go, go… She inspired this blog. Let her inspire you…

A MEMORABLE MEMORIAL DAY...

Snatum Kaur

I am in the middle of a memorable Memorial Day Weekend….so perfect I have even caught a glimpse of God…

Friday night a dear friend picked me up and took me to a concert. There is simply something about Friday night that creates excitement…and especially when it’s the start of a long holiday weekend. And, there is something about Snatum Kaur (the singer we were going to see) that sets her apart from other artists. Since I have all of her recordings, and listen to her in my Kundalini Yoga class, I knew I was in for an extraordinary show. Snatum is a young, radiant woman who has a voice that is a profound and compelling talent. Anyone who sits and listens to her will be moved. She wraps you in a warm lavender scented, clean, and cozy blanket, and sings devotional lullaby-byes to you. Well, they may not be lullaby’s’ but she has an innocence that opens your heart. She sings and chants with grace, eloquence, and pure bliss. You will be moved. Her connection to the divine is palpable.

As I sat and listened, my heart just blossomed. When I closed my eyes, the light within shined so brightly…I caught a glimpse of God….

What a better way to start a weekend called Memorial Day …It was only Friday, and my high-spiritedness was already off the Richter scale.

I had another glorious day on Saturday. I found myself surrounded by my family. The reunion was remarkable because we don’t get together often enough, and everyone was there. We laughed, danced and hugged all day long. I felt like I was reaping the blessings bestowed upon me the night before.

On Sunday, as I drove around with another friend, she watched in wonder how our Ageless Aunty chanted every word to one of Snatum’s Kaur’s CD’s…Ong Namo, Guru Dev Namo. After witnessing Aunty in all her glory with all her wits about her, humming happily in the back seat, my friend said with glee… “Aunty plays cards, does yoga, sings, and dances. You make her so happy she is going to live to 102.” And with that, we pulled over to the ocean. I poured some ice, mint green tea and we un-wrapped home made sweet potato pie, reveling in Aunty’s amazing youthfulness (the rewards of my hard work and devotion). I may not be famous yet, but, I will not call myself a failure, because I have made, and am keeping, another person genuinely happy.

Today, I get to write to you about all the joy, love, and peace.

What was re-affirmed for me this weekend (with Snatum Kaur as the soundtrack all along) is: when you open your heart in the name of love, anything is possible. Good comes to you. You don’t have to go looking for it…you don’t even have to ask. If you don’t recognize that it’s already there, you will.

ALWAYS A REASON...

photograph by Aunty

Ten reasons I am smiling:

Aunty just told me she has always loved me…

I have a new guru named Mingman…he tells me to “be like water and go with thee flow.”

My good buddy G-bro updated my computer.

Received a sweet email from a dear friend who greeted me with “Hi Chicken…” and signed it xxxxooooo me.

Aunty was eventually able to take this picture by herself (her first time holding a digital camera as you can see).

I Read Roland Merullo’s Italian Summer.

Sipped Rishi’s exclusive Organic Wild Rose White Tea with aunty (a generous gift from a friend).

“One of the leading agents in the country” has my book proposal.

Aunty told me she will always love me…

I found the two Christmas stockings I bought for Aunty and My Late Uncle D many years ago.

Went to church with a heart full of gratitude for all of the above, and more, including YOU! Thank You for following our blog…We ask God to Bless You.

That was eleven….but, this blog is not possible without you...
